Personalize Your Prompts

While Muse4U offers quick inspiration via the Generate button and visual discovery through the Circle tab, you can gain more control using guided workflows (single context only) and by saving your favorite prompts or merged combinations as Custom Presets.

Guided Workflows: Beyond Randomness

Muse4U provides two workflows, "Fine-tuning" and "Custom," allowing you to make deliberate choices for each prompt component instead of relying purely on randomization. Note: Workflows ( and ) are only available when a single preset context is active, not during Multi-Select Mode.

Fine-tuning Workflow: Refining an Existing Context

This workflow lets you start with the active single preset context (standard or custom) and adjust its details step-by-step.

  1. Ensure the preset you want to fine-tune is the active single preset context. (Set this by selecting it in the "Select" tab, or clicking it without Ctrl/Cmd in "Search" results or "Circle" suggestions).
  2. Click the button below the tabs (it will be disabled if in Multi-Select Mode).
  3. A dialog window appears, guiding you through choices for prompt components based on the active preset's data.
  4. Interact with the dialog (OK, All, Auto-Complete, Cancel) as described in Get Started.
  5. The final prompt appears in the Output area with the label "(Fine-tuned)" or "(Interrupted)".
  6. Auto-Save: If you started by fine-tuning one of your Custom Presets, successfully completing the workflow automatically saves the changes back to that preset.

Custom Workflow: Building from a Category Base

This workflow allows you to build a prompt more freely, drawing from *all* available options within the Category selected in the "Select" tab.

  1. Navigate to the "Select" tab and choose the desired base Category from the first dropdown.
  2. Click the button below the tabs (disabled in Multi-Select Mode).
  3. The workflow begins, asking for Title and Description, then presenting choices aggregated from *all standard presets within the selected category*.
  4. Interact with the dialog (OK, All, Auto-Complete, Cancel).
  5. The final prompt appears in the Output area with the label "(Custom)" or "(Interrupted)". This output is not automatically saved; save it as a new Custom Preset if desired.

Saving and Managing Custom Presets (via Select Tab)

If you are logged in and using one of your owned profiles (not a shared one), you can save prompts or merged definitions as your own Custom Presets. Saving or updating requires login.

All Custom Preset management happens within the "Select" tab.

Saving a Single Prompt (Generated, Edited, Workflow Result)

  1. Ensure the text you want to save is in the Output area (must not be empty). Make sure you are not in Multi-Select Mode.
  2. Navigate to the "Select" tab.
  3. Select the base Category in the first dropdown.
  4. Ensure no existing Custom Preset is selected in the second dropdown (e.g., select a Standard Preset first).
  5. Click the button.
  6. A dialog appears. Enter a Preset Name (derived from the first line of Output by default).
  7. Click Create New.

Your saved preset will now appear under "My Custom Presets" in the Select Preset: dropdown when its base Category is selected.

Saving a Merged Result (from Multi-Select Mode)

  1. Enter Multi-Select Mode by selecting 2 or more tracks (using Ctrl+Click/Cmd+Click in Search/Circle tabs).
  2. (Optional) Use Full Preset, Generate, Improve, or Translate to preview the merged result in the Output/Translation Area.
  3. Click the button (it should be enabled).
  4. The "Save New Preset" dialog appears.
    • Enter a unique Preset Name for your merged preset (e.g., "Cinematic Ambient Blend").
    • Select the base Category under which to save this merged preset.
    • The "Update Existing" button will be hidden/disabled.
  5. Click Create New.
  6. The application sends the list of selected track IDs to the backend. The backend merges their data and saves it as a new Custom Preset under your account.
  7. After successful saving:
    • Multi-Select Mode is automatically exited.
    • You are switched to the Select tab.
    • The Category you saved under is selected.
    • Your newly saved merged preset is selected in the second dropdown.
    • The actual saved, merged content is loaded into the Output area with the label "(Custom Preset: [Your Name])".

The saved merged preset behaves like any other custom preset – you can select it later to use its merged data as a base for further generation or fine-tuning (single context only).

Updating an Existing Preset (Single Context Only)

  1. Ensure you are not in Multi-Select Mode.
  2. Navigate to the "Select" tab.
  3. Select the existing Custom Preset you wish to update from the dropdown. Its content loads into the Output area.
  4. Make edits directly in the Output area.
  5. Click the button again.
  6. The dialog appears, allowing you to confirm the update or save as a new preset. Click Update Existing.

The preset is updated on the server. Reminder: Completing the Fine-tuning workflow for a Custom Preset also updates it automatically.

Deleting a Preset (Single Context Only)

  1. Ensure you are not in Multi-Select Mode.
  2. Navigate to the "Select" tab.
  3. Select the Custom Preset you wish to delete from the dropdown.
  4. The delete button () appears. Click it.
  5. Confirm the permanent deletion.

The preset is removed.

Note on Shared Profiles: "Save Preset" and "Delete Preset" require an owned profile to be active.

Input History

For steps requiring text input (like Title/Description in the Custom workflow, or the Fixed Theme input on the "Select" tab), Muse4U provides a history dropdown. Previously entered values are saved locally in your browser and suggested as you type, allowing quick reuse. You can remove items from the history using the '×' button next to each entry.

Editing Prompts

You can directly type in the Output text area at any time to make manual changes, except when in Multi-Select Mode (the Output area becomes read-only). When editing is possible, the label will change (e.g., to "(Edited Generated)") to indicate manual edits. Be aware that performing actions like "Generate", "Full Preset", "Fine-tuning", "Custom", or "Improve" will prompt you to confirm before overwriting your manual edits (unless you are editing the 'Improved' version and run 'Improve' again). Use the "Switch" () action in the context menu (disabled in multi-select) to revert to previous states if needed.
